3D - type 235 - Number Ball
The 3D - type 235 - Number Ball minigolf ball, manufactured by 3D, is a slow, medium-hard, and medium-heavy standard ball with the following ball data:
- Bounce height: 8 cm
- Hardness: 38.5 sh
- Weight: 53 g
- Size: small (K) (approx. Ø37.5 mm)
- Surface: Smooth lacquer (L) or Raw (KR)
Playing characteristics
With a bounce height of 8 cm, the ball is classified as relatively slow and has a softer hardness of 38.5 sh. Warming up the ball makes it bounce higher and roll faster. Additionally, warming it up makes it softer, which increases its bank play. The weight of 53 g for the small ball is in the heavy range. The ball is available in two different surfaces: Smooth lacquer (L) or Raw (R), which influence the rolling and banking behavior of the ball. When smoothly lacquered, the ball rolls better than the raw version. In bank play, the raw version takes more spin than the smooth lacquer.
Possible uses
The ball can be used on all minigolf systems. These are the various lanes and obstacles on classic minigolf systems where the ball could be used:
Minigolf System |
Lane / Obstacle |
| Minigolf (Concrete): | Lane 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 14, 15, 17 (KL) |
| Miniature Golf (Eternit): | Kidney (KL), Loop (KL/KR), Window (KL), Killer (KL), Straight shot with and without rods (KL), Hubcaps (KL), Passage (KL), Salto (KR) |
| Felt Golf: | Örkel, Letter slot (KL), Raw balls are rarely used on felt. |
| Adventure Golf: |
On lanes where good rolling behavior with a slow, heavy ball is desired (KL). Raw balls are rarely used on Adventure Golf (KR). |
| Minigolf Open Standards (Other): |
On lanes where good rolling behavior with a slow, heavy ball is desired (KL). |
*Note: The information provided is for inspiration only. As lanes and obstacles vary, no general recommendations can be given. The ball may also work well on other lanes - depending on creativity and playing style.
The story behind the ball
The "3D type" number balls were developed and manufactured by the minigolf production company 3D in Austria. Behind the numbering is a system that allows the balls to be categorized by their properties. Each of the three numbers represents a categorization of the three different properties in the following order: bounce height (0–9), hardness (2–7), weight (1–6). The higher the first number, the faster the ball. The higher the second number, the harder the ball. The higher the third number, the heavier the ball. Accordingly, the 3D type 235 number ball can be classified as slow, rather soft, and heavy.
Suitable for
All skill levels: beginner, hobby, and professional players.
Ball care
To better preserve the ball's surface, the ball should not be touched with greasy, dirty, or very sweaty hands. To keep the ball's surface smooth, the ball can be rubbed with a smooth piece of fabric, e.g., on the T-shirt surface or on a towel. The raw version of the ball (KR) should not be rubbed on a T-shirt.
